I have always hated cameras. They have been the enemy since I was young. One ill-timed photo and I became an anxious mess; perpetually fearful of becoming the crater-faced, double-chinned laughing stock of the internet. In fact, it wasn’t until I had my daughter in May of 2019 that I began to discover the brighter side of photography, and the gift that I possessed.
I have always loved people. Hearing people’s stories, learning their qualities and quirks, sharing opinions, knowledge, jokes- that’s the stuff that makes me tick. But nothing brings me more joy than my people; my husband Matt, my baby girl Cora, my cat-son Yoshi, my family and friends.
While obsessively documenting Cora’s every single blink, twitch, and coo, I began to discover an untapped passion. I started to branch out and photograph friends, family, and local businesses. Shortly thereafter, Shot by Brooke Scott was born.
Look, I get that the idea of having a total stranger behind a camera click-click-clicking away while you force an unnatural smile and don’t know what to do with your hands sounds uncomfortable, at best. But I am fully confident in my ability to skillfully balance my innate artistic eye with my undeniable wit and charm (and humility!) to document your greatest memories. Let’s talk about your vision and I promise to work tirelessly to capture you, your people, and the moments that you won’t soon forget.
I am a firm believer that every photo you invest in should evoke a strong feeling of nostalgia. While posed photographs can absolutely be beautiful, my ultimate goal is to capture candid memories and raw emotion that have the ability to transport you to a specific place & time.
Instead of simply documenting what you and your loved ones looked like in the year 2020, I want to help you immortalize the face your baby makes during a game of peekaboo, the unmistakable glow of a couple who are madly in love, your son’s toothless grin at his 7th birthday party, your favorite hike you’ve taken with your partner, the first time you laid eyes on your third child, and everything in between.
After all, this is not just a photo for a frame, your Facebook wall, or your Instagram feed; these are the memories that make life worth living.
You in? Me too.
